My name is Steve Huxter, the founder of TRANSFORM Animal Behaviour Solutions.
As a past member of the Canadian Association of Zoos and Aquariums, as well as the International Marine Animal Trainers Association, I am fortunate to have been presented opportunities to work with a variety of animal life. For nine years I was the Director of animal training and care, for an Aquarium and marine animal rescue centre. The Aquarium was home to Orcas, Sealions, Seals, and other marine mammals, birds and fish.
I now offer my skills and experience to assist the owners of companion animals to manage problem behaviour in their pets.
TRANSFORM grew from a recognized need for a service dealing primarily with problem behaviour in animals. There are instances when an animals problematic behaviour is too challenging and seems irreversible. Cats with spraying or litter box issues, Dogs that are aggressive, unresponsive, anxious or damage the home. Frustrating circumstances such as these may force an animal owner to abandon or destroy their companion animal, an extreme solution that is traumatic for both animal and owner.
I offer an alternate course of action, one sensitive to the needs of both owner and animal.
Each animal-human relationship is unique; therefore the approach and techniques used to correct problem behaviour must be unique to each animal and owner as well. By learning to communicate with our animal companions on terms that are familiar to their species, while maintaining a positive focus and ensuring that the behaviour modification techniques are consistently and appropriately applied, are the keys to successful behaviour management.
Through coaching and timely follow-ups, as well as encouraging clients to contact me with their questions, concerns and observations; I am able to monitor their progress and provide follow-up support to ensure success. With their new behaviour management skills, TRANSFORM clients:
